Chesham Society - Special General Meeting

At our Special General Meeting held on 25th July, a new committee of six members was elected to continue the work of the Chesham Society, as set out in our constitution.  The constitution was itself amended, so that the minimum number of members required to form the committee is now also six.  Many thanks to all those members who turned out on a very hot day to make this such a positive meeting.  A full record of the proceedings can be found in the Minutes.

Future Plans

The committee is now looking ahead to future events and a new-look publication for Society members.  If you would like to be involved in planning or promoting events, or contributing to the magazine, do please get in touch.

Local Plan Consultation

The most urgent task now facing the Society is coordinating a response to the Chiltern and South Bucks local plan.  Consultation of the Draft Local Plan finishes on 23rd August. The Society held a Public Meeting to discuss the plan (on 15th August) . See our Local Plan Consultation page, for presentations made at the meeting, details of the proposals and also, our advice on how to respond, together with a simple response document.

About us

The Chesham Society is the local amenity Society for Chesham town and the surrounding parishes of Chartridge, Cholesbury-cum-St Leonards, Ashley Green, Latimer and Chesham Bois. We are a voluntary group of people who care for the Chesham area.

Formed in 1957, we are a registered charity, a member of Civic Voice and the Town Council Environmental Group. We are not political and cooperate with other groups working for the good of the town and act as a forum for debate. The Chesham Society monitors local planning schemes and applications, and encourages debate to ensure that the interests of local people are properly heard.
