Brown, Grey or Green – Planning for Chesham
Brown, grey or green?
Planning for the future in Chesham

A public meeting will take place at Chesham Town Hall on Saturday 9 May at 2:30pm to examine the options for housebuilding in and around Chesham, ahead of the anticipated publication of the Buckinghamshire Local Plan.
Phillip Plato of Brown not Green, the Lye Green residents group, will discuss the legality of Green Belt development, given the cursory examination of a few alternative Brown Field sites. Possible legal actions to defend the Green Belt will be discussed. ( Slides and Notes)
Mark Wolstenholme of the Chesham Society will discuss the Pheasant Rise application, an example of how ‘Grey’ belt is used to circumvent Green Belt (and National Landscape) designations
Andy Garnett of Chesham Renaissance Community Interest Company will report on the status of Brown Field sites in Chesham. These sites were excluded from the recently approved Chesham Neighbourhood plan, since no viability assessment had been made. Site assessments could be commissioned, if sufficient funds can be raised.
Members of Chesham Town Council have been invited to attend.
An open discussion will follow the talks, including fundraising options, which will be necessary if we are to present a sound legal case to the Bucks planners. While the plan is yet to be published, it is never too early to start to prepare a response, and easier to introduce changes before any final document has been sent to the printers.
Your views are important to the debate on the future of Chesham. All welcome – no charge.
