Chesham Experimental Traffic Regulation Order

Bucks have proposed changes to the traffic regulations, which will permit more access to the pedestrian area of the High Street, and introduce exorbitant charges for holding events such as Hats Off Chesham. The proposals are described here.

Our colleagues from Chesham Connect have produced this guide to the proposals, which may help in completing the consultation – which runs until 16th Feb. Please take the time to respond. The Chesham Society is in complete agreement with Chesham Connect, these proposals will make the Pedestrian Zone less safe, and the charges will prevent use of the High Street for events. Taken together they will have a negative effect on the High Street, which is struggling, and so on the town as a whole.
